ARTIST INFO
She was a resident artist at Brandeis Institute for six years and became involved in several community organizations including the Westwood Art Association and the National Watercolor Society, where she served on the board and as President for both organizations. In 1970, Pat Berger received a lifetime teaching credential for teaching Art in Adult Education through the Los Angeles Board of Education. She has had many juried and invitational exhibits, with her first solo exhibit at the Galerie Nico in Venice, CA in 1959. She was later invited to become part of the Heritage Gallery's stable of artists and had her first solo show there in 1964.
As a result of her unique depictions of the homeless population on skid row called "No Place To Go", she received a Body Fine Art Fund Community Foundation Grant and twelve of the paintings were purchased for the permanent collection of the Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum in Buffalo, NY. Others are in collection at Skirball Mueseum in Los Angeles and the West Collection at University of Minneapolis Law School, Minnesota.
Berger presently maintains a studio in Los Angeles and Phoenix, Arizona. In Arizona, she has exhibited at the Marshall Gallery in Scottsdale and the Costello/Childs Contemporary in Phoenix. Most recently, in 2006, her work was included in an exhibition at the West Valley Art Museum called "Arizona Treasures" and a solo exhibit is scheduled at the same museum for December 2008 - February 2009.
