Asset Description
The U.S. Marshals Service offers the following asset for auction:
  • Subject property is located at 920 Avenue A, Gadsden, Etowah County, Alabama 35901-2316.
  • Assessor’s Parcel Number: 15-02-04-2-000-123.000
  • Legal Description: House and Lot Number Seventeen (17) in Block Number One (1) of the Liddell Addition to the City of Gadsden, according to the map or plat thereof as recorded in the Office of the Judge of Probate of Etowah County, and lying and being in Gadsden, Etowah County, Alabama.
  • Site area is .16 Acre +/-.
  • Shape: Rectangular
  • The subject neighborhood is built up of single family homes with many different designs, including one (1) story, one and a half (1.5) stories and split levels/split foyers.
  • The property is bounded by the city limits of Gadsden in all general directions, as the neighborhood is the city of Gadsden. The home is located near schools, recreation, places of worship and shopping. The roads are constructed of asphalt and provide easy access to the transportation network, shopping, recreation and entertainment. Medical and employment are available within commuting distances of the property.
  • Zoning for this property is SFR-1, single family residential.
  • This is a one story detached property which consists of a living room, kitchen, sunroom, two (2) bedrooms and one (1) bathroom. This property is believed to be in fair to poor condition. This property consists of 1,159 +/- square feet of gross living area.

This is pursuant to a Default Judgment of Forfeiture dated June 8, 2009.

Disclosure:The subject property was built prior to 1960. The Seller has no knowledge of lead-based paint hazards in the housing, nor does it have any records or reports pertaining to lead based paint. The Seller will give the buyer the opportunity to conduct a risk assessment or inspection of the property for the presence of lead based paint hazards. This must be done within 10 days following the close of the auction. The winning bidder may also choose to waive the opportunity to conduct a risk assessment or inspection of the property. An addendum has been added to the purchase agreement in regards to this opportunity which must be signed within 24 hours of the close of the auction.

Bidding Requirements
To bid on this auction, all bidders are required to become qualified by placing a deposit. The deposit of the winning bidder is automatically transferred to the seller at the end of the auction. If the winning bidder fails to perform on any auction, the entire BidDeposit will be forfeited to the seller.

Non-winning bidders' deposits are refunded within (10) ten business days after the close of the auction. This deposit cannot be applied to other auctions.

In addition, all Buyers must agree to release and hold harmless the Seller from any and all demands, rights and causes of action, arising from, or to arise from, or by reason of, the Government's seizure, forfeiture, ownership, possession, management, use, sale and/or transfer of these assets.

  • The successful bidder has 24 hours following the close of the auction to sign a Purchase Agreement. The successful bidder has 30 calendar days to complete the transaction by certified check to the U.S. Marshals Service. If the successful bidder does not perform, the bidder will forfeit his/her/its BidDeposit to the U.S. Marshals Service. The successful bidder will be required to cover any closing costs.
