Boating, swimming, water skiing, fishing, picnicking, and camping. Only 22 miles north at Rye Patch State Park also Kyle Hot Springs is 12-1/2 miles from historic and picturesque town of Unionville. Fossil Hill offers a mecca for fossil collectors.

 

Rock hounds, bottle diggers, metal detectors, explorers and spelunkers enjoy forgotten camps, deserted town sites and mines, the vast deserts, tufa, and fossil areas. (Please NOTE: Extreme caution must be taken around abandoned mines and caves and also back country roads.)

 

Seasonal sightseeing trips are available to ghost towns, mining camps, Indian caves, Immigrant Trail, and Pony Express routes, Pine nuts can be gathered seasonally.

Located in Pershing is the Rye Patch Reservoir (a.k.a. Pit-Taylor Reservoir), which has a surface area of approximately 12,000 acres at full reservoir storage. Fishing season is year-round. Warm-water fishery with game species including white bass, walleye, white crappie, largemouth bass, bluegill, brown bullhead, and channel catfish. Nevada State record walleye caught at RYE PATCH.

 

Additionally, Rye Patch Reservoir is part of the Rye Patch State Recreational Area where visitors enjoy fishing, boating, water skiing, camping, and picnicking. A campground, boat launch and picnic sites are provided.
