43.51 Carat Fancy Intense Yellow Internally Flawless Diamond
Item Description

On May 13, 2009, the United States Marshals Service, Northern District of Ohio Office (USMS) took custody of a 43.51 carat Flawless Fancy Intense Yellow Diamond. The USMS had the diamond appraised by a certified professional gemological appraiser to provide a description and determine the value of the diamond. The USMS also researched the provenance to determine authenticity of the diamond. Based on the research and findings the USMS has determined the following:

  • NO Mine source origin and cannot associate the diamond with any specific mine.
  • NO United Nation resolution sanctions or Kimberley Process claims relating to the diamond.
  • NO International government claims or encumbrances relating to this diamond.
  • NO relationship or connection to the “Greater Star of Africa” diamond, “Du Toit” diamond or any other known famous historic diamond.

  • Width - 18.11mm (1.42 length to width ratio)
  • Depth - 10.78mm

  • Cushion Modified Brilliant Cut
  • Brilliant cut crown (25 facets)

  • Very Thin to Extremely Thick faceted girdle
  • Table - 72.88%, Depth - 59.5%

This is pursuant to a Final Order of Forfeiture dated March 11, 2011.

A Master Gemologist Appraiser has thoroughly researched the provenance of this diamond; reviewing all available documents regarding known stolen historic diamonds. At this time there is no evidence that links this diamond to any known stolen or missing diamonds in the United States or abroad.

Bidding Requirements
To bid on this auction, all bidders are required to become qualified by placing a deposit. The deposit of the winning bidder is automatically transferred to the seller at the end of the auction. If the winning bidder fails to perform on any auction, the entire BidDeposit will be forfeited to the seller.

Non-winning bidders' deposits are refunded within (10) ten business days after the close of the auction. This deposit cannot be applied to other auctions.

The U.S. Marshals Service will not release the asset to the winning bidder until it has been confirmed that all funds have been received, including the initial bid deposit placed in order to bid on this asset. In addition, all Buyers must agree to release and hold harmless the Seller from any and all demands, rights and causes of action, arising from, or to arise from, or by reason of, the Government's seizure, forfeiture, ownership, possession, management, use, sale and/or transfer of these assets.

Inspection Details
There will be a viewing held for this diamond between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:30 PM ET on the dates of Monday, August 29th - Friday, September 2nd, 2011. Please note that only interested parties who have submitted a bid deposit will be allowed to view the diamond, NO EXCEPTIONS. Only one party will be allowed into the viewing area at a time. To request an appointment time to view the diamond, you can send an email to [email protected] and please include your name, telephone number, requested appointment time(s), and reference auction ID # 504373 or you can contact Reynell Saxon at 877-794-1542 ext 135. Because of the strict security for this asset, please note that your requested inspection time may not be available, therefore when you are submitting a request please send at least three (3) appointment times and we will try to accommodate your requests. It may be necessary to amend the time outside of your top 3 requested times, however we will try to work within your schedule. It is recommended that inspection requests are sent at LEAST 3 business days prior to the date you are requesting and you will receive a confirmation email confirming your appointment date and time as well as the inspection location.

  • The successful bidder has 24 hours following the close of the auction to sign a Sales Certification Form. The successful bidder has 7 business days to complete the transaction by certified bank check or wire transfer to the U.S. Marshals Service. If the successful bidder does not perform, the bidder will forfeit his/her/its Bid Deposit to the U.S. Marshals Service. The successful bidder has 10 business days to transfer the asset from the USMS location and will bear the costs and responsibility for the transfer of this asset.
