SHARP COUNTY

  Sharp County was created in 1868 from the western part of Lawrence County.  It was named in honor of Ephriam Sharp, a pioneer legislator from the region.  Evening Shade was named the first county seat, but when the railroad crossed the northern district, Hardy was also made a county seat.  Sharp was one of only a few counties in the state to have dual seats of justice.  In 1967, a new courthouse was dedicated at Ash Flat and the county once again had only one county seat.The Hardy-Cherokee Village area remains the county’s most popular travel destination.  Old Hardy Town retains its 1920s vintage appearance with craft and antique shops, automobile museum, city parks and bed & breakfast inns.  Cherokee Village offers championship golf courses and relaxed living.  Other attractions include canoeing on the Spring River, hiking or birdwatching in a nearby wildlife management preserve, and musical shows in the area.

Access to the two lakes's Rainbow and Sherwood are only for paid up association members. Also a nice fishing spot over Lake Sherwood dam is also only for paid up members. We also have a small park area along the lake.

Dues can not be forced upon legally to property owners (as I understand it). However if you are not a paid up member then you CAN NOT USE THE LAKES OR COMMON AREAS.

The cost to keep up insurance on the DAM area and lakes, plus keep the common areas mowed does cost. The subdivision has been trying to stock some special fish in the lake to help keep down weeds in the lake. This is expensive too and cost.

So, joining is a great way to ensure the lakes and common areas remain beautiful and a place when you come down, and be able to enjoy !!! Plus its the main draw and value to the subdivsion anyway.
