Where is Sebring Located?????

When people think of Florida, they mostly think of a land of oceans and palm trees. That is pretty accurate, but there
is another part of Florida people are discovering every day. The Highlands Ridge is a sandy “spine” of hills and
subtropical paradise that runs from Lake Placid up into Central Florida. Highlands County in particular (Lake Placid &
Sebring) has beautiful ridge lakes, which offer great swimming, boating and fishing opportunities in a freshwater
setting. These aren’t mud holes, but absolutely gorgeous sandy-bottomed lakes. The lakes are the undisputed number
one attraction in Highlands County. It isn’t nearly as crowded or expensive as the coasts and once people actually
find the area, they realize it’s a much better place for them. Taxes are far less. Homeowner's insurance is also far
less. And being inland and hilly, it’s much safer than being on the coast in terms of hurricanes – they lose a lot of
steam by the time they get to us (yet, we're only about an hour from each coast - great day trips).

Sebring is world famous for the annual 12 Hours of Sebring endurance race, part of the prestigious American Le Mans
Series. Every year on the third Saturday of March, the raceway hosts thousands of race fans from around the world to
witness the historic 12 hour classic. All the legends have raced at Sebring...Sebring International Raceway is
America's premier sports car racing facility. Nestled among the orange groves and cattle ranches of central Florida, it
is the oldest permanent road racing track in North America.
Hiking and biking can be found all over Sebring and the rest of the county. They are creating new multi-use trails all
the time. Some of the best places to hike, bike and view wildlife are listed below:
Highlands Hammock State Park :Many visitors enjoy bicycling the scenic 3-mile loop drive or hiking along the park´s
nine trails. An elevated boardwalk traverses an old-growth cypress swamp. For equestrians, there is an 11-mile, day-
use trail. Picnicking is another popular activity as are ranger-guided tours of the park. Highlands Hammock offers a
full-facility campground, as well as a youth/group tent campground.
Highlands County is home to 90 lakes and provides a rich habitat for a wide variety of wildlife.

Lake Jackson:The lake has various boat ramps, including the popular public ramp at Veterans Beach on the lake's
west side. Most ramps are private and there are many private beaches. Two public swimming beaches exist, one at
Veterans Beach and one just to the west of downtown Sebring. Pleasure boating and fishing are popular activities. A
public fishing dock is to the north side of the swimming beach near the downtown.

There has been quite a bit of growth in the county the past few years - some really beautiful homes and
developments have been built. But, it's still a rather quiet place to live - perfect if you like a country setting yet want
enough dining and shopping experiences (we have lots of stores, a good sized mall, several nice shopping centers,
etc).
Sebring is still one of Florida's best kept secrets. with its rolling hills, beautiful lakes and near perfect climate, its
increasingly becoming home to not only weekenders but both part-time and year-around residents alike!!! Join them
and own your own lot in Florida...while prices are still low!!!
