Historical Facts Given to Jackie as a wedding gift by Aristotle Onassis in 1968, the ring consists of a large oval shaped ruby weighing 17.68 carats framed by round diamonds weighing approximately 5.50 carats. It is mounted in gold. The original ring was made by Van Cleef & Arpels in New York. Jackie wore the ring throughout her life, but the estate sold the ring at the famous Sotheby's auction in 1996. It was estimated to sell between $20,000.00 to $30,000.00, but it sold for $312,300.00
